WARNING: LONG RANT!
My beautiful girl last night downtown taking Prom pics. Too bad she didn’t even get passed the front door. I’m so beyond angry and disappointed with Lafayette High School. Yes, Eva forgot to buy tickets. She was used to her date getting them because that’s what had been done in the past, but this year she went with a friend that had graduated 2 years ago. She was caught up in finding a dress, getting alterations, spray tan, etc. It didn’t even hit her until Thursday night that she had forgotten to get them and school was canceled Friday so that teachers could protest the pension bill in Frankfort, which I’m glad they were able to do. She called the school Friday morning hoping someone was working and asked the receptionist if she could come buy a ticket. She said that she could because Mrs. McClanahan, the prom coordinator, was there that day. She drove to the school and as soon as she walked into Mrs. McClanahan’s room she looked up and said, “I knew you were coming, so I checked your attendance and you were here everyday this week and could have bought your tickets.” First of all, not true, she was sick Monday and didn’t go to school or work. Secondly, who gives a shit if she was there every freaking day this week or this month?? It slipped her mind because she’d never been the one to get the tickets in the past! We live in a time where kids are being bullied everyday, students are beyond disrespectful to teachers, and sadly, school shootings have become a regular occurrence. My daughter is not perfect by any means, but she’s been at Lafayette for 4 years and has never been in trouble. I’ve never had any of her teacher’s ever contact me to discuss a problem that they’ve had with her. She’s been on the Honor Roll all 4 years and finished last semester with a 4.2 while taking dual credit classes and working 3 days a week at a daycare. long prom
So Lafayette decided to take this opportunity to show students who’s boss by not let anyone who didn’t already have a ticket, buy one at the door. Which they have done in the past. So, a great big thank you to Mr. Royster, Mrs. Bugg, and Mrs. McClanahan for ensuring that my daughter, who with her date spent close to $600 on Prom attire, didn’t get to make it through the door of her Senior Prom. And no, this momma is not bitter at all that this was also the last Prom that we, as parents, would get to celebrate because Eva is our youngest and graduating next month. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you Lafayette High School administration for giving my daughter this wonderful memory that she can always look back on with fond memories! ?
Feel free to share. Would love to make this go viral! Or if you're willing, drop an email to Lafayette' principals at [email protected] and [email protected] and/or Fayette County's superintendent [email protected].
Dont mess with a momma' girls!
